Portland-based artist Simcha Einhorn was born in Chicago, Illinois at the tender age of zero.
Using ceramics, sewing, and video, their work navigates the sticky trappings of childhood and coming-of-age through the lens of queerness, catharsis, and Judaica. Often disparate parts, Simcha combines these mixed media practices to create spaces for exploring and processing elements of their own childhood and upbringing.
They completed a dual degree from Reed College (BA in studio art) and Pacific Northwest College of Art (BFA in General Fine Arts with a minor in ceramics) in December of 2023.
When he is not wrist deep in clay or hunched over his sewing machine, Simcha likes to spend time arranging flowers, going on big long walks, and sitting in his favorite seat on the bus (it really is the little things).
In his professional life, Simcha enjoys working with organizations that align with his values of strenghtening communities, amplifying marginalized voices, and trying to build a better world, pebble-by-pebble.
